The Bahrain Malayalee CSI Parish
- During the 1950s, the Malayalee Christian residents in Bahrain formed the “Bahrain Malayalee Christian Congregation”. This congregation assembled on Fridays and conducted prayer meetings without any specific liturgy. In the late sixties, a group of C.S.I. members started Church services in the C.S.I. liturgy. This included Mr. M. I. Chacko, Mr. John Chacko, Mr. C. T. George , Mr. C. G. Philip, Mr. P. Solomon, Mr. Easunesan, Koshy Punalur, Mr. N. S. George , Mr. M. M. John, Mr. A. J. Thomas and Mr. K.A. Varghese.
- As Anglicans, the group inherited the privilege to worship at St. Christopher’s Anglican Church on Sunday evenings. In 1976, the group requested the Bishop to provide them with a Parish Priest. In June 1978, the Rev. E.V. Eapen arrived to take charge as the first Parish priest. Since then the Parish has been blessed with the ministry of the presbyters from the Madhya Kerala Diocese.
- The congregation remembers with gratitude the help St. Christopher’s Church provided our Parish in arranging the NOC for our first Vicar, the Rev. E. V. Eapen. The efforts of all those members who were instrumental in getting our Parish registered during the term of Rev. E. V. Eapen cannot be forgotten.
