Odisha Mission
As a part of the Bicentenary Project, the Odisha Mission was started in Titlagarh, Odisha in 2014. Mr. Philip Ittyerah, a member of the Chengannur CSI Church donated 4.7 acres of land to Madhya Kerala Diocese for mission work. Odisha is a state where mission activities are facing strong opposition. Through the tireless efforts of 14 local missionaries, 250 houses in 70 villages were converted to the faith. In the villages, six congregational gatherings are taking place while in other places the believers gather for worship in houses. In order to improve the quality of education of rural students, tuition classes are also organized for 200 children in 5 villages and study materials are provided to these children. Financial assistance is provided for the higher studies of rural students. 50 women in 5 villages as part of women empowerment projects, Tailoring training classes are also held. At Tumudibandha in Kandamal, the work among the tribals started in 2019 and many of the local people received the Christian faith. It was possible to start the mission work among 21 lepers living in the village of Shantinagar in Odisha in 2021. Missionaries visit these villages every week and arrange worship services. They are provided with food and medical facilities every month. A community centre was established among the Kutia Kondh Tribal people. The construction of the community study centre was completed in the mission centre to give more strength to the mission activities.
