Bengal Mission
The mission activities have started in 2015 under the initiative of the CSI Malayalam Congregation Kolkata at Basihat, a place 70 km away from the city. Bible class, prayer fellowship and group activity sessions for children were conducted on Saturdays. Rev. Jacob P. Devasia and the theological students from Bishop's College were actively leading the mission activities. But engagements had to discontinue in this place due to local opposition in 2018, and we resumed the mission work at a new place, Pukur Seetha, North 24 Perganas district in November 2022. Currently, the works are based at the residence of Mrs Chithra on Saturdays post noon where 30 children and 20 adults are attending the meeting on regular basis. Mr Tutul Sarkar has joined as a volunteer missionary in November 2022. Prayer meetings, Bible classes, and activity sessions for children are conducted regularly. The mission activities have to move forward to the next level where we need to begin skill development programmes, tuition centres, women empowerment schemes and pre-primary education centres.
