Bishop Moore Vidyapith, Cherthala

An Overview As the Oriental saying goes "Where the vision is one year, cultivate flowers. Where the vision is ten years, cultivate trees. Where the vision is eternity, cultivate people". Bishop Moore Vidyapith is named after Edward Alfred Livingstone Moore, the fourth Anglican Bishop of erstwhile Diocese of Travancore and Cochin (1925-1937) and is run by the Central Travancore Diocesan Trust Association of the CSI Madhya Kerala Diocese. The school, established in 2001, is co-educational and provides all necessary facilities for fruitful education. It has been established in spacious compound on the eastern side of N.H. 47 in the erstwhile Karappuram Mission Compound. We have classes up to Plus Two. To gear up the children for the competitive world, the learning process is enhanced by modern technology.

Mission And Motto "The Fear of the Lord is the Beginning of Wisdom" The School Emblem is in the form of a shield signifying our unremitting battle against evil, to uphold everything that is good, just and everlasting. The olive branches just underneath the shield show our love for peace.

The cross on the left hand side signifies our faith in the Saviour of mankind. It also shows our love for fellow human beings (the horizontal bar) and our love for the Creator (the Vertical bar).

On the right hand side is the candle. We pray the light to lead us, and we feel that we can help light a candle without cursing darkness.

The Asoka Chakra emphasizes our faith in our Mother Land. The wheel leads us into the path of glory. Kerala in the background portrays the cultural heritage that we have received from this beautiful land. The Bible reminds that Truth shall make us free. It also tells us that the 'Fear of the Lord is the Beginning of Wisdom'.

Hawksworth Vidyapith, Tholassery

Hawksworth Junior school was established on the Tholassery hills, the cradle of modern education in Thiruvalla and nearby places in 1987 sponsored by CSI St. Thomas church. The school was founded in memory of Rev. John Hawksworth, one of the pioneer CMS missionaries who served the Thiruvalla region in mid 19th century. During his tenure in Thiruvalla, he built a bungalow where Hawksworth Junior school was started with 31 kids in KG. In 1993 the school reached the level of Std IV and at this time a children’s park was constructed. In 1995 the school was renamed Hawksworth Vidyapith and it was decided to upgrade the school to the secondary level. The school also owned a van for the transportation of the children. In 1996, the vicar of CSI St Thomas church and the committee members took steps to strengthen and renovate the Hawksworth Bungalow and the necessary maintenance work was done. Also, a new van was bought to facilitate transportation. In 2001 the school obtained N.O.C. from Kerala Govt. and temporary affiliation to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi. The ground floor was completed, and the principal’s office and High school classes were shifted to the new building in 2004. In 2004 and the school got permanent affiliation. Thus from humble beginnings, the school has become a prominent educational centre in Thiruvalla.
