ദക്ഷിണേന്ത്യാ സഭ ഈറോഡ്-സേലം മഹായിടവകയുടെ ബിഷപ്പ് ഡെസിഗ്നിറ്റായി റവ. ഡോ. എ. ജേക്കബ് ലിവിംഗ്സ്റ്റൺ തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ടു. ഈറോഡ്-സേലം മഹായിടവകയിലെ മുതിർന്ന പുരോഹിതനായ റവ. ഡോ. എ. ജേക്കബ് ലിവിംഗ്സ്റ്റൺ, നിലവിൽ മഹായിടവകയുടെ അഡ്മിനിസ്ട്രേറ്റീവ് സെക്രട്ടറി, മഹായിടവക സെക്രട്ടറി എന്നീ നിലകളിൽ സേവനം അനുഷ്ഠിക്കുന്നു.
1969 മെയ് 2-ന് ജനിച്ച റവ. ഡോ. ലിവിംഗ്സ്റ്റൺ, അണ്ണാമലൈ സർവകലാശാലയിൽ നിന്ന് ചരിത്രത്തിൽ എം.എ, തമിഴ്നാട് തിയോളജിക്കൽ സെമിനാരിയിൽ നിന്ന് ബാച്ചിലർ ഓഫ് ഡിവിനിറ്റി, വേൾഡ് ചെയ്ഞ്ച് സെമിനാരി & റിസർച്ച് ഇൻസ്റ്റിറ്റ്യൂട്ടിൽ നിന്ന് ഡോക്ടറേറ്റ് ഇൻ ഡിവിനിറ്റി എന്നീ ബിരുദങ്ങൾ നേടി. 2005-ൽ ഡീക്കനായും 2006-ൽ പുരോഹിതനായും അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ടശേഷം ഗൊബി, സേലം, ഈറോഡ്, ശിവഗിരി, ഭവാനി തുടങ്ങിയ ഇടവകകളിൽ സേവനം അനുഷ്ഠിച്ചു.
2013–2018 കാലഘട്ടത്തിൽ സാമൂഹ്യ പ്രശ്നങ്ങൾക്കായുള്ള കൺവീനറായി പ്രവർത്തിച്ച അദ്ദേഹം പരിസ്ഥിതി സംരക്ഷണത്തിനായി വലിയ തോതിലുള്ള ബോധവത്കരണ പരിപാടികൾ സംഘടിപ്പിക്കുകയും, രാഷ്ട്രീയമായി വെല്ലുവിളി നിറഞ്ഞ സാഹചര്യത്തിലും അംബേദ്കർ ചിന്തകൾ ധൈര്യത്തോടെ പ്രചരിപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. 2016–2022 കാലത്ത് ലേ പ്രീച്ചർ വകുപ്പിന്റെ ജനറൽ സെക്രട്ടറിയായിരിക്കെ, പരിശീലന കാലാവധി ഇരട്ടിയാക്കി, ഏകദേശം 750 ലേ പ്രാസംഗികരെ വിജയകരമായി പരിശീലിപ്പിച്ചു. 2022–2023-ൽ സി.എസ്.ഐ. കൊയമ്പത്തൂർ മഹായിടവകയുടെ വൈസ് പ്രസിഡന്റ് സ്ഥാനവും വഹിച്ചു.
ഭാര്യ പി. ഹെലൻ അമുത, തമിഴ്നാട് ഗവൺമെന്റ് സ്കൂൾ അധ്യാപിക, വനിതാ ഫെല്ലോഷിപ്പ് മന്ത്രിത്വത്തിൽ സജീവ പ്രവർത്തകയും കഴിവുള്ള പ്രസം ഗികയും; മകൾ ജോഹന്ന, ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് സാഹിത്യത്തിൽ അഭിരുചിയുള്ള വിദ്യാർത്ഥിനിയും കുടുംബത്തിന്റെ ആത്മീയ ദൗത്യത്തിൽ പങ്കാളിയുമാണ്.
റവ. ഡോ. എ. ജേക്കബ് ലിവിംഗ്സ്റ്റണിന്റെ ബിഷപ്പ് സ്ഥാനാരോഹണ ശുശ്രൂഷയിൽ ദക്ഷിണേന്ത്യാ സഭ മോഡറേറ്റർ, ദി മോസ്റ്റ് റവ. ഡോ. കെ. റൂബൻ മാർക്ക് മുഖ്യ കർമ്മികനായിരിക്കും. സി.എസ്.ഐ. ജനറൽ സെക്രട്ടറി അഡ്വ. സി. ഫെർണാണ്ടസ് രഥിന രാജാ, ട്രഷറർ പ്രൊഫ്. ഡോ. ബി. വിമൽ സുകുമാർ, മറ്റു ബിഷപ്പന്മാർ, മഹായിടവകാ ഭാരവാഹികൾ, പുരോഹിതന്മാർ, സുവിശേഷകർ, സിനഡ് ഡയറക്ടർമാർ, സഭാംഗങ്ങൾ എന്നിവർ സന്നിഹിതരായിരിക്കും. അഭിഷേക ശുശ്രൂഷ 2025 ആഗസ്റ്റ് 16-ന് രാവിലെ 8 മണിക്ക് സി.എസ്.ഐ. ബ്രൗ മെമ്മോറിയൽ ചർച്ച്, ഈറോഡ്ൽ നടത്തപ്പെടും.
Rev. Dr. A. Jacob Livingston is the Bishop-designate of the Church of South India, Erode-Salem Diocese. He is a senior presbyter from the Erode-Salem Diocese and has been selected to serve as its next Bishop. He currently serves as the Administrative Secretary and Hon. Diocesan Secretary of the newly formed Erode-Salem Diocese.
Born on 2 May 1969, Rev. Dr. Livingston holds an M.A. in History from Annamalai University, a Bachelor of Divinity from Tamil Nadu Theological Seminary, and a Doctorate in Divinity from The World Change Seminary & Research Institute. He combines theological depth with historical insight and administrative expertise. Since his ordination as Deacon in 2005 and Presbyter in 2006, his ministerial journey has taken him across multiple pastorates in Gobi, Salem, Erode, Sivagiri, and Bhavani, where he has served with pastoral sensitivity and strategic vision.
His leadership portfolio spans a variety of influential roles. As Social Concerns Convenor (2013–2018), he championed ecological stewardship, organized large-scale environmental awareness programs, and courageously promoted Ambedkarite principles in a politically challenging climate. As General Secretary of the Lay Preacher Department (2016–2022), he restructured the training system, doubling its duration to ensure deeper formation, and successfully trained around 750 lay preachers. Serving as Vice-President of the CSI Coimbatore Diocese (2022–2023).
Rev. Dr. Livingston is blessed with a strong support system in his wife, Mrs. P. Helen Amutha, an accomplished educator in the Tamil Nadu Government School system, active leader in women’s fellowship ministries, and gifted preacher and their daughter, Johannah, a passionate student of English Literature who shares in their family’s mission.
The consecration service of Rev. Dr. A. Jacob Livingston as Bishop will be celebrated in the presence of the Moderator of the Church of South India, The Most Rev. Dr. K. Reuben Mark, who will be the Chief Celebrant. Also present will be the General Secretary of CSI, Adv. C. Fernandas Rathina Raja, the Hon. Treasurer of CSI, Prof. Dr. B. Vimal Sukumar, other Bishops, officers of the Diocese, Presbyters, Evangelists, Synod Directors, and Congregations. The consecration service is scheduled to take place on 16 August 2025, 8 AM at CSI Brough Memorial Church Erode.
