Thottapradesha Mission

Thottapradesha Mission, the mission field of CSI Madhya Kerala Diocese, started its work in the year 1988. In the vicinity of Mundakayam High range, 'Henry Baker Junior Thottapradesha Mission' was established in 1986 for evangelism and the development of people who immigrated for agriculture and as labourers in rubber plantations. Thottapradesha Mission, one of the home missions of Madhya Kerala Diocese, spreads out mostly in the borders of the Kottayam and Idukki districts in Kerala. There are 9 churches in the mission which predominantly work on the spiritual, social and economic development of the people. The Diocesan leadership is keen to ensure the growth of the Thottapradesha Mission. In order to strengthen Thottapradesha Mission activities, from 2018, the Mission has been divided into two sections. 'Thottapradesha Mission 1' is centred at 504 Colony consists of 504 Colony, Kuzhimavu, Kombukuthy, Panackachira and in 'Thottapradesha Mission 2' there are churches in Paloorkavu centre, Paloorkavu, Kodikuthy, Kadamankulam, Kappaluvenga, and Boyce Estate. Two places have no churches of their own. Worship has been conducted at the Estate School in Kadamankulam and the Ecumenical Church in Boyce Estate. Missionaries Rev. Shibu Selvaraj, Rev. Rijin P Abraham, evangelists Mr Vineeth Raju, Mr Shibu Daniel, Mr Sibichan, Mr Sajin Mathew and mission coordinator Mr Abin Lalu are leading the mission focussing on estates and houses outside the estate. Through regular visits, efforts are being made to directly understand the problems of the people and find solutions. Financial Assistance is being given to the physically exhausted in this backward area, to the estate workers suffering from unemployment, to the needy girls of the mission for their marriage, and financial assistance and educational assistance for their higher studies with the help of supporters of the mission. Study materials are distributed to the children from LKG to +2 students under the mission every academic year. Efforts are being made to start activities targeting tribal centres such as Matamba, Chennappara, Chakirimedu, Kuttikkayam and Vandanpathal. It was possible to bring families back through consistent visits who had gone back to tradition. The mission fellowship meetings are held monthly in one of the mission’s churches and are attended by people from all mission congregations.
